In my opinion The Hot Dog Hut has the BEST hot dogs in Jax! I had the Andouille Sausage dog that comes topped with grilled peppers and it was delicious. But the truth is that I have never had anything from there that wasn't delicious. Even with the new ownership (I think they've owned it for a few yrs now) the place has only gotten better which is usually not the case with restaurants. I'm thrilled that THDH is still just as good if not better than it was when I first started eating there years ago!

All of my customer service experiences in the south and the east have been weird, short or outright rude. That is, until we came here! The ladies at the counter were warm and loving, like a favorite aunt! They happily explained sizing to us and mentioned new menu items. The decor was delightfully bad, like a hot dog hut should have. Big bathroom open to the public, which was hard to find in California beach towns. My husband had a foot long Chicago dog and I had the jumbo Bama: hot dog with pulled pork, slaw and a sweet and savory sauce. We also got chili cheese fries to split, which were surprisingly small, but probably for the best of our health. We took our food to Jax Beach and watched Hurricane Sandy blow by. Made me miss Brooklyn and eating Nathan's Famous on the Coney Island sand. Four stars for great customer service, location and nostalgia.

Somewhat baffled by the pile of 5-star reviews for this place. To be clear, I adore hot dogs. There's nothing I would love more than a truly excellent hot dog joint here on the beach, but this isn't it. The dogs here aren't bad, they're just nothing to drop 5 stars about. Their Chicago dog is pretty far from accurate (sweet relish instead of dill relish, for one) and their slaw is weirdly dry (it's finely diced red cabbage and not much else). The chili is average. I've been there a few times and my dogs weren't grilled very thoroughly (I thought they had been boiled the first time I visited). The menu items are there, but the execution isn't quite great.

HIDDEN GEM ALERT! Not too many people will go out of their way to eat hot dogs, which I understand. But this place is totally worth it. The owners are extremely nice, vocal people who are honored to have you in their restaurant. They serve every type of gourmet hot dog you could think of, with whatever ingredients you want piled on the top. They're all the freshest ingredients, packed with flavor. They serve chili in the winter time, which you can imagine is great. It's in a a little strip mall with a few other businesses, and you'd know by looking at it from the outside, but it's the real deal. Get in there and knock out a couple dogs. I PROMISE YOU'LL FALL IN LOVE.

Not only were the hot dogs delicious and FAST but the best part about our experience was the service. Everyone who worked there was friendly and helpful and checked on us. I don't eat hot dogs much, but the day I was craving one, the hot dog hut hit the spot FOR SURE!!!

Let's start out with I have been here a few times before. Theses folks make a pretty good dog. They have some with chili, some with slaw, some with jalapenos. Then they have some with everything. They even have a dog from Philly. It might be tired after it's trip but it has to be good, right. I didn't get one so I can't say if it's good. But, the Carolina and the Texas dog are pretty darn good. Both come with slaw and chili just the Texas dog has jalapenos. I ordered the jumbo dogs and let me say that they are jumbo. The big 1/4 thick ones but the buns leave something on the table. I wish that they would steam them or something. They were right on the verge of hard and dry. Then they did soften after a bite or two. The heat from the dog an chili moisten them right up. So I will keep the Hot Dog hut on the short list cause after all who doesn't like a good dog every now an then.

This is a 5 for a hotdog. I'm not trying to compare this to Ruth's Chris. The first thing you notice before getting Inside are the wide parking spaces which My car and i really appreciate and the wooden frame screened door which makes it inviting and gives it a homey feel. The next thing is the interesting combinations that make up the hotdog menu with current fav being the Cajun dog which is a perfect combo of heat and sweet. The staff is awesome! They talk to you as if you're sitting in Their living room having a conversation. The food is great. Although I don't eat hotdogs often, now and then I crave it and have to go there. By the way, the bathroom is nice and clean. You'll understand why when you read the sign in there. :-)

not as good as it used to be. Husband ordered keilbasa, turns out it is a 3 inch section of keilbasa, cut in half and put end to end in a roll. Lame-o. French fries were few and not very hot. The hot dog was good. not a great value over all.

Yum. Yum. Carolina Dog was fantastic. I live in Chicago and always have wanted to stray from our traditional "Chicago Dog" of mustard, bright green relish, onions, tomatoes, sport peppers and Celery Salt. (This establishment has Chicago Dogs) The Carolina Dog was with chili, cheese, onions, and cole slaw. My friend had too many jalapeños on his Texas Dog so I put the jalapeños on it too. Yummy!!!! The sweet potato French fries were also really good. They are a little slow so make sure you have time to wait and you'll enjoy the food. Excellent.

I have driven by this place many times and I finally stopped in to try one of their hot dogs for lunch. I went to the slaw dog, which they make in house, and you can tell! The people are really friendly and I enjoyed my lunch as well. I will return!

Try it you will have a doggone good time. This place has gone to the dogs, and that is a good thing. Okay, no more bad puns. Hot Dogs are not considered highbrow food, but the Hot Dog Hut has elevated the dog into the stratosphere. You can order one of their specialties like Chicago, Carolina, Cheese or Slaw. Or you can choose your own mix. Plus you can choose the size of the dog you want. My favorite is the Chicago with peppers, tomato, pickle and celery salt. Believe me, it works. I also get the Slaw Dog with homemade slaw. But there are plenty of choices that you cannot go wrong. I always get the regular size, so I can eat one of each. Anything bigger and one would be more than sufficient. In fact, the Jumbo would equal two regular size dogs, according to the owner. Not in a Doggie mood? Try the homemade burgers, they are also worth a trip and like the dogs can be special or customs, or both. Plus, they have fries, sweet potato fries and onion rings.

I've driven by this place numerous times without giving it a second glance. My mom suggested we go there for a cheap and easy lunch when my grandma came to visit. She works nearby and always talked about how great they are, but not being a huge hot dog fan myself (I'm admittedly a bit of a food snob), I had my doubts. Boy was I wrong. These hot dogs are delicious, and they have flavor combinations sure to please any palate. An adventurous eater, I got the California dog - diced tomatoes, onions, and covered in creamy ranch sauce. My grandma got the chili dog and my mom kept it simple with sauerkraut and mustard. Both raved about them. Oh, and don't forget a side of onion rings! The decor in this place is fun and gives you plenty to look at while you wait for your meal. The staff is friendly; we unknowingly showed up ten minutes before closing time and they gave us a warm welcome and all but insisted we stay. I highly recommend this place, best dawgs in Jax, hands down!

Come hungry, because you will leave STUFFED. The prices are right and the dogs are delicious. I recommend the Carolina Dog and the onion rings. The staff is so nice. Just...come! It's worth it !

Best hot dog in town, hands down! Great little place close to the beach. Super friendly owners! Can't go wrong with any dog or sausage you choose!

Great food and prices. They have a good selection of hotdogs and other food. It is a small diner but it is not cramped.

I am NOT a hot dog fan, but my husband loves them. After years of him asking to find a good hot dog place, I found this place on Yelp. We pulled up, not really impressed, but went on in. The smell was glorious, taking me back to vacations on the boardwalks of the places we visited. The ladies working were super nice, patient while we looked over the menu. I ordered a regular plain hot dog, a corn dog, and cheese fries, husband ordered the onion sauce dog and onion rings. Oh my goodness. Everything was really good. They cook it as you order, so it's super fresh, and hot. I will definitely go back whenever he asks for a hot dog.

Not a bad place if your craving a Chicago dog,or plain dog or any other kind of dog really. I say price is fair. Clean well lit place. Friendly, speedy staff. No disappointments here with this guy.

I do not go out of my way for a hotdog. I will even sometimes avoid your bbq when you mention them. Yea, the food snob coming out again! I had a hankering for a slaw dog today and found "Hot Dog Hut". Am I ever so thankful that I did! Any and every kind of hotdog a person could want. My slaw dog was perfect. None of that commercial grade slaw that comes in a tub here. Blended perfectly with the right amount of mayo and vinegar. I added my own mustard and was off. For the jumbo dog it was $3.30. The other thing that has me all excited is the North Carolina Hamburger. Slaw, Chili, Cheese and onion on a perfectly cooked hamburger with a toasted bun. All for around $6.50. Oh Lord help me! The decor is fabulous and will give you something to admire and look at if eating alone and don't realize the paper stand right next to the front door. The silver-aluminium table sets are great and easily moved to make larger tables. They even have a battery operated hotdog for the little ones to get a lollipop out of when they have finished eating.

It was rich food for almost a week while in JAX, FL but once in a while you have to have pub grub. Hot Dog Hut was a perfect fit for this need. Extensive menu but I had to do a taste comparison from some of my dog favorites: 1) Kraut dog - the New York - excellent, smooth kraut flavor and an excellent dog and mustard. The bun was moist, soft and warm. Give me another please. 2) Texas Dog - aka Chili and Onions - mild heat but good texture and flavor, onions lacked taste but were still good too. Next trip - the foot long next time. 3) The corn dog - am I in Texas? - I need a packet of mustard and a little league game to watch. Well done HDH - the end of a nondescript strip center is once again proven wrong - HDH was a memorable stop and not a chain. Thanks.

Finally I had a great hot dog. Ordered the Chicago style, it was the best I ever had. Topped it off with one of their sausage sandwiches, the hot Italian was equally as good. Can't wait to go back.

Good place to grab a variety of hot dogs. The only downer is they close at like 4:30 pm. The owner told me it's because they serve breakfast... I'd think they'd do better to skip breakfast and stay open later--I've twice pulled up too late in the afternoon and dealt with the disappointment of not satisfying my hot dog craving.

I was skeptical of a place catering to the hot dog niche, but this place is a nice treat! Family owned and operated by really nice folks from Philly. Great selection of hot dogs. You can get them in sizes of regular, jumbo, or foot-long. I always get a combo with Old Bay-seasoned fries. The chilly hits the spot.

The people are very friendly and I love the wide range of hot dogs they have. Make sure to get cheese on your french fry's as well. Can't say anything really bad about it but I gave it 4 stars because I wish they would have different kinds of meat for there hot dogs.

The Hot Dog Hut is awesome! I live in Jax Beach and drove by this place so many times, wanting to check it out. I'm glad I finally did! I'm not a huge fan of hot dogs - just one of those things when you want one, you gotta have one. The place totally tops Orange Tree Hot Dogs which has really boring hot dogs. For me, it's all about the toppings and this place has it. They offer lots of different varieties and the hot dog itself is juicy. The price is just right too. I can't wait to go back when I have my next craving!

Hit the Hut because of yelpers. Well worth the wait. I visit Jax beach a lot on business, and the Hot Dog Hut is now on my eat here list. Took a couple of buddies. I had Chicago dog. It was great. Buddies had the Cajun and the New York dog. Both raved about them. Go here you won't be disappointed.
